Christophe Barbe - Chief Technical Officer

Chris

Christophe joined ANSTO Materials Science and Engineering Division in 1997. He was one of the inventors listed on ANSTO's first encapsulation and controlled release technology patent. He currently leads the R&D team expanding and commercialising ANSTO?s encapsulation controlled release technology.

Chris received his PhD in 1992 in the field of Materials Science from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL) in Lausanne where he worked under the supervision of Professor Terry Ring on the synthesis of superconducting thin films by sol-gel methods.

He spent the next two years at Dupont Central Research with Dr George Scherer developing KTP nonlinear optical sol-gel films and novel sol-gel chemistries for the production of enzymatic sensors.

Chris is the author of over 50 publications and six patents. He is a member of the Materials Research Society and the Controlled Release Society, and is a co-founder of the International Sol-Gel Society.
