Linggen joined ANSTO in January 2001. His main research areas are the synthesis of ceramic micro and nanoparticles for controlled encapsulation and release of active materials. His goal has been to reach proof-of-concept for ANSTO's controlled release technology for both medical and industrial applications.

He is also working to continue to broaden the technology platform to strengthen ANSTO's IP positions in the field of controlled release.

Before joining ANSTO, Linggen spent four years in an industrial research environment within R&D Department of Tianjin Tong Yee Ind. Corp. Ltd. in China. Prior to this he was a lecturer at the Pharmacy Department of the Tianjin Medical University in China. Linggen has previously worked on electroacoustics, colloid and interface science research, trace element analysis and storage batteries.

Linggen holds a Bachelor of Science and Masters of Science from Nankai University in China and he has a PhD from Sydney University in Australia.
