What is CeramiSphere Technology?
CeramiSphere technology enables a wide range of molecules, including drugs and enzymes, to be trapped in very small ceramic beads at room temperature, and then released in a controlled fashion over a pre-determined time period.
The combination of sol-gel chemistry and emulsion to produce particles that can deliver a substance at a controlled rate is unique. In addition, the capability to choose the required particle size over a very wide particle size range from 10 nanometres to microns, is also unique.
This novel system maximises the effectiveness of the hosted material by minimising the possibility of denaturation, and precisely controlling its release rate. If required, the particles may also be labelled and thereby targeted to specific destinations.
The company is currently focussing on a wide range of applications including Healthcare (eg. drug delivery), Industrial applications (such as anti-corrosion coatings.) Nutraceuticals and Cosmetics and Cosmeceuticals
How does CeramiSphere Technology work?In layman's terms the technology works in a similar way to the art of making M&Ms or Smarties, where chocolate is encapsulated within a smooth candy shell so it does not melt in the hand. Similarly, CeramiSphere technology is used to encapsulate active ingredients inside ceramic particles and control their release using sol-gel and emulsion chemistry.
